KUALA LUMPUR: Three people escaped being crushed to death by a crane that fell from the 35th floor of a building in Jalan Ampang.
A man, who wished to be indentified only as Zambri, said he was driving his company's car with two colleagues when he saw some small stones falling on his car at about 1.15pm Thursday.
He immediately sped off and as he looked at his rear mirror, he saw the crane crashed into the ground behind him.
“If I had not sped off we would have been dead," he said at the scene.
The crane, from a building under construction, destroyed four vehicles, including the luxury Lexus car. No one was injured but the entire Jalan Binjai was closed to traffic.
City Fire and Rescue Department director Khiruddin Draman said they are investigating the incident.
