SHAH ALAM: A TEACHER who was getting ready to go to school was shocked when a forklift crashed into the front portion of her house and damaged a car parked in the compound at Desa Alam near here yesterday.
The front portion of the house next door was also badly damaged in the 11.40am accident.
The driver of the forklift, who was unidentified, had earlier collided with another vehicle and lost control of the forklift and it spun 180 degrees before crashing into a concrete divider that separated the two houses.
School teacher, Rozaida Muhammad, 37, said she heard the loud crashing sound of metal against concrete as she was about to open her front door.
"There was a loud screech and then I saw the forklift in front of my house," she told reporters when met at the scene.
Rozaida's husband, Dr Nik Kamarudin Nik Nur, 42, said when he rushed home he saw that the foklift driver was sitting near a pile of rubble beside the forklift with his hands covering his head.
"The driver was taken to a hospital nearby by his co-workers," he said, estimating his losses at some RM40,000 which included the damaged portion of the house and wrecked car.
According to one of the workers, the driver of the forklift was ferrying cement to a construction site nearby.
