Cendanawati, which was carrying 1,600 tonnes of lubricant, was on its way to Indonesia from Thailand when the collision occurred at 5am.
Syd Mohd Fuzi said the collision slightly damaged the Cendanawati while the Cosmic 10 was able to continue with its journey.
"The crew of Cendanawati was rescued by the Lady Anyvisia, which was about three nautical miles from the incident at that time," he said.
